Alan Stellings has been a promoter and performer of Canadian music throughout his professional career. This CD represents four Canadian composers in the classical music field. The CD program opens with John Weinzweig's "Cello Sonata (Israel)" written in 1949 to commemorate the first anniversary of the creation of the State of Israel. It is followed by reminiscences of travels in Stellings' "Sonata Damiana" (1994) and Philip McConnell's exciting "Sonata for Cello and Piano" (1990). The CD closes with Andre Prevost's "Sonate No. 1 pour violoncelle et piano" (1962) by Quebec composer, Andre Prevost.
